From Costa Himself:

"Following on from yesterdays progress post, have a look at this. This is the completed art work by The Art of Aidan Lee Smith . Wow There is so much to look at I don’t know where to begin.Genuinely humbled by what your intention was and how you have crafted so much of my life and my loves into one portrait. It is colourful and joyful and happy and flower filled with animals and insects and nature shining bright all around me. Thank you Aidan. Its a work of art to say the least"

I’m also addicted to gardening, and love Costa’s contagious bubbly attitude. When thinking of how to portray Costa, I remembered he once described himself as ‘half man half hedge’. I wanted him emerging from a garden wonderland, full of animals, plants, and flowers. What would a Costa portrait be without a huge chicken and a little secret garden gnome? From there I just kept adding more and more elements, including a chameleon, hummingbird, frog, caterpillar, dragonfly, blueberries, strawberries, capsicum, lemon, sunflower, native flowers, and of course heaps of bees, butterflies and ladybugs. I wanted to keep the portrait itself spontaneous and fun, loose quick brushstrokes, ending with some little ferns for the reflections in his eyes. Finally I added some metallic gold sparkles and stars for a hint of magic and fantasy.
